For several years my family home was plagued with stink bug infestations. Every fall they seemed to appear out of nowhere to terrorize our family with their stinky presence.
For many years we just put up with it -- after all, this is not a year 'round problem -- it only happens a couple months out of the year.
Also, we didn't have one of those stink bug infestations of biblical proportions. At the worst time of year some people in the eastern United States get literally thousands of stink bugs in their home on a daily basis (see photo below).
When my family's tolerance for these stinky little pests finally reached it's breaking point, I set out to wage war against the stink bugs.
For several years our stink bug control method was just picking them up with tissue and tossing them in the fire. BUT, they kept coming back again and again, never really getting the message. No matter how many stink bugs we got rid of there were back the next day.
With kids, dogs, cats, and regular guests, the idea of spreading extermination chemicals around the sinks, counters, ceilings, and bedrooms wasn't a very appealing option. I had to figure out how to do it without pesticides.
So I searched online for a solution, but the information available online is confusing and took a long time to go through.
But after a lengthy process of tedious research followed by many hours of trial-and-error, I figured out exactly what had to be done!
After a bunch of frustrating attempts and dozens of hours combing through the advice I found online, I finally cracked the code and managed to eliminate our stink bug infestation completely!
